Group exhibition: Collective Joy — Learning Flamboyance!
Curated by Amandine Nana
Palais de Tokyo, France
Inspired by Place de la République in Paris, she recreates an iconic urban scene: the chess playing area located in front of the Ludomouv red container, a mobile library that promotes social diversity and intergenerational exchanges. This facility reminds her of her urban environment in Rotterdam, where she lives, and where similar urban chessboards bring together diverse audiences.
The artwork takes shape as a group of life-sized painted characters on pieces of cardboard placed on construction site fences. It continues with a cardboard on the ground where a chessboard is provided for the audience on one side, and on the other side, left empty. This emptiness evokes the gradual disappearance of these spaces for sharing and social interaction in public spaces.
