For her, it is a place of togetherness, filled with the aromas of herbs and ingredients from which delicious dishes are made. One day, Pris’s mother suddenly disappears. The customers stand on the sidewalk in front of a closed roller shutter. When Pris and her father go looking, they discover that behind the shutter lies another world, full of a dense jungle of long beans and wild rivers of noodle soup. For this book, I have worked four years on the process of this book. As a child you could always find me reading comic books on the street or drawing by myself behind my desk in our home which was an apartment above the toko (translation toko from behasa Indonesia is store, but in the Netherlands it refers to a supermarkt and/or a eatery of Indonesian, Chinese, Surinamese, Indian background). And I am a big fan of books and graphic novels. This book is actually really a piece of my heart, but also takes a look into my own history and thoughts. It really is special to include a book made by yourself to have it on display for this and the next generation to have it on their own book shelf.&nbsp; I would like to thank everybody who was part of the process and you can order the book at your local bookstore.&nbsp; For more information on the book go to my publisher De Harmonie.&nbsp; Courtesy, photos in studio for FD Persoonlijk, photographer: Mounir Raji&nbsp; https://prisroos.com/Polderlaan-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy Sun, 15 Feb 2026 15:45:59 +0000 Pris Roos https://prisroos.com/Polderlaan-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy-copy <img width="2480" height="3543" width_o="2480" height_o="3543" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/7664f1710696b11edb8f8a26f600523c90960398771ca89b57278db7e2717838/PU_Harmonie_Pris-Roos---De-toko-van-mijn-ouders_Omslag-voorrgb.jpg" data-mid="251805647" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/7664f1710696b11edb8f8a26f600523c90960398771ca89b57278db7e2717838/PU_Harmonie_Pris-Roos---De-toko-van-mijn-ouders_Omslag-voorrgb.jpg" /> <img width="2480" height="3543" width_o="2480" height_o="3543" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/aebe4da748dc8044cf2b81a99fafaf290faa042ee9138451043099f56ce66efe/PU_Harmonie_Pris-Roos---De-toko-van-mijn-ouders_Omslag_achterrgb.jpg" data-mid="251805646" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/aebe4da748dc8044cf2b81a99fafaf290faa042ee9138451043099f56ce66efe/PU_Harmonie_Pris-Roos---De-toko-van-mijn-ouders_Omslag_achterrgb.jpg" /> <img width="6048" height="8064" width_o="6048" height_o="8064" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/33da4d8c47cef1288996601af61460ddab020dd350ca2730f90409e2c3bf12ca/IMG_4446.jpeg" data-mid="251805650" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/33da4d8c47cef1288996601af61460ddab020dd350ca2730f90409e2c3bf12ca/IMG_4446.jpeg" /> <img width="2250" height="3000" width_o="2250" height_o="3000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/39d415ddeb49995df0c2211cfd6b2a5d14702c9dac32c0e4a79301a974059409/IMG_9617.jpeg" data-mid="251805702" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/39d415ddeb49995df0c2211cfd6b2a5d14702c9dac32c0e4a79301a974059409/IMG_9617.jpeg" /> <img width="2250" height="3000" width_o="2250" height_o="3000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/012971ce85611501ce515cb40fd88ff0f7957390b21d9284ee7a5b2e6835c293/IMG_9614.jpeg" data-mid="251805703" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/012971ce85611501ce515cb40fd88ff0f7957390b21d9284ee7a5b2e6835c293/IMG_9614.jpeg" /> <img width="2250" height="3000" width_o="2250" height_o="3000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c9e62243be94fe2f84408d659f69329279abe2bbcbde95690f6db2da12fdcff4/IMG_9616.jpeg" data-mid="251805704" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c9e62243be94fe2f84408d659f69329279abe2bbcbde95690f6db2da12fdcff4/IMG_9616.jpeg" /> https://prisroos.com/Navigation-copy-copy-copy Sun, 15 Feb 2026 15:45:31 +0000 Pris Roos https://prisroos.com/Navigation-copy-copy-copy PRIS ROOS Exhibitions About + CV Shop https://prisroos.com/text-kom-kom-kom-spelen-dan-copy Sun, 15 Feb 2026 15:45:52 +0000 Pris Roos https://prisroos.com/text-kom-kom-kom-spelen-dan-copy Thuis, Open StudioInstallation with recycled cardboard&nbsp;350 x 250 cm Group exhibition: Thuis Curated by Nathalie Maciesza Rembrandthuis, NL “Pris Roos is building a new 'home' in the museum. Artist Pris Roos will be creating live art in the Open Studio two days a week this fall. As part of the exhibition "THUIS. Feeling at Home in Contemporary Art," she is creating a large-scale installation: a new home made of recycled cardboard and pastels. Each room focuses on the personal story of a single individual. For this project, Roos visited several people at home and asked, "What does 'home' mean to you?" Based on these conversations and her impressions, she created an interior. Her material, cardboard, was no coincidence: it originated from her parents' shop. This cardboard contains items from all over the world, often purchased by people from diverse cultural backgrounds, searching for something that reminds them of home. “ (website: Rembrandthuis) I would like to thank especially Nathalie Maciesza, Linnemore Nefdt, Nafiesa Rasoelbaks and Nani for their hospitality and generosity of inviting me. Much gratitude to the team of Rembrandthuis.&nbsp; Courtesy, Rembrandthuis, Thuis. 2025.
