I work and live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. My work has a critical view on nature. Nature, in the course of the years has changed drastically. A change that has an influence on animals and their habitat. In my work I’m interested in showing the relationship between humans and animals. I believe we don’t differ that much from animals. My current work continues on imprisonment and powerful animals. In the summer, I made a series of the five largest animals in South Africa. These animals are called as a collective "The Big Five'. Once praised by hunters and tourists because of the difficulty to capture these creatures. But now? They are reducing drastically in numbers and habitat because of capitalism, power and tradition. Animals compete with humans and industry for land and life. Animals are prisoners of humans and their acts. They are restricted in their liberty to exist. Whether it is in the open field, or in the cages. My work on paper focuses on animals as warriors with their skins replaced by armor of hard materials such as stone and metal. With each a different theme in the armor of one of the Big Five. Most work is build up from a mixture of different patterns and structures of various objects. I'm always interested in new projects.
